Poems of Love and Longing
Gestures in Red
1
He puts his arms around her.
Her forehead on his shoulder burns
The cloth, to the bone.
2
He kneels before her
To trim a loose thread
Hanging from her shawl.
His large hands are delicate, and his eyes
Gentle, when he looks up.
3
He brings his palms together
And bows without speaking a word.
His face blossoms like a dark- red rose.
