I'm writing because your committted, impassioned writing has inspired mine. My second book is in multiple voices and deals with the US invasion of Iraq, "Every Seed of the Pomegranate." Hello....I've only read a few of your poems. They are beautiful. I just happened to be surfing the name Kamkar out of curiosity. You see, my Father's name is Kamkar. I was never fortunate enough to meet him before I found out that he died. It broke my heart. Can I ask you how common the name "Kamkar" is in Iran? I have always dreamt of finding some of his family. Hello Esther, Thank you again for your help. I just want you to know how much I love your poems. I really need poems to be pictures, in a way. What I mean is, words that paint a picture or pictures in the soul. I relate most to poetry that uses the "I" in a universal sense. Many contemporary poets use too much "I feel" in their work. When I read a poem, I want to be able to be the one to say the "I" as well as the writer. No matter whether I have had that exact experience or not. No matter how foreign the setting. Your poems allow me to be the "I" along with you, and so I can be with you in them. You are beautiful in every way. Much love, Christine |
